I'm soooo exited! Tomorrow is the first official meet of run hixson! I got the fourth  teacher to join ( we need four adults as coaches) just in time! I'm really hoping for a big turnout. I'll post some pictures of us running on the next blurb

Hey this is Sam Getz and this is post 6 of runhixson. So I just spent an hour and a half copying legal documents freeing the school and staff of any responsibility for injury and stuff like that, so that we can leave school grounds to run. exciting. by tomorrow i'm going to put the official sign up sheet in the office for kids to grab. the only question is when should the sign up sheets be due? I want to give students the most time possible to see the posters and sign up but I also want to start running as soon as possible. I don't know, does a week sound like too short of a time?

Post 4

Hey my name is Sam Getz and this is post 4 of youngrunninghixson blog. I have mapped out 2 and 3 mile routs to run on, ( anything under 2 mi will be run at moss field), and I am going to put out posters next week.  My dad who runs said that he would coach and I'm asking our gym teacher next week as well.

hey my name is Sam and this is the third post of this project. so I talked to some professionals and I have a few volunteer coaches, but so far details are still pretty sketchy. I'm working on a trying to get a place to meet, and since we are next to a track and field, I'm thinking meeting at school is going to be best. my dad is a runner (he got me into running) so I'm thinking about asking him to coach, but I'm trying to decide if we need another coach or not since some kids are at different skill levels and we might need to split up. which brings me to skill level. I cant decide if this group is going to be a "come learn how to run" kind of thing or a "if you run already come run with us" kind of thing. on one hand we have more members but we will need to go slow and some people will get board, and on the other hand, we exclude some people but we have a faster, more in sync group. i'm torn. any advice?

Starting a group

Ok so I'm trying to find people to join my running group and I have a few that might want to, but I'm wondering where we should meet and who can join and what time to meet and it's so crazy!!! I don't know where to start! I think I might get a teacher to help me out. Any advice? If you are a runner do you have any idea what distance we should run at first?

hey, my name is sam getz and i go to to hixson middle school in St. Louis Mo. I started running a year ago and I loved it so i'm trying to start a cross country running club for our school, since we have no team for students at my age. so far this group is just an idea but my goal is to be running in 3 months.
